Welcome to the Gospel!
" What if genuine faith begins with admitting we will never have our act completely together? Maybe messy disciples are exactly the kind of imperfect people Jesus came to earth for and whose company he actually enjoyed--and still enjoys. If you want to find Jesus today, look for him in the midst of burned-out believers, moral misfits, religious incompetents . . . men and women whose lives are, well, messy." that's our class for you, a bunch of misfits talking about god...
Our Class will be based on the book Messy Spirituality by: Michael Yaconelli, it will take place during the 9:30 and 11:00 hour at Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes (click for map). We will be focusing on one chapter a week, for nine weeks. Hope to see you there.
How do i get the book
Zion will be purchasing 30 copies of the book for use as nessicary, copies will be handed out April 8th one week before the class actually starts, although you can get a copy at any point during the class.
I would encourage you to come to class having the chapter for the week already read, although this is not a requirement.
If you should feel inclined a $6 donation to pay for your book would be greatly appreciated.
About Mike
Yaconelli was not ordained but ministered for more than 40 years as a lay pastor, writer and lecturer. His last book, Messy Spirituality—God’s Annoying Love for Imperfect People, summed up his life and message. His passion for living and uncompromising honesty gave him wide acceptance across denominational lines and among youths of all ages. He deplored prepackaged answers. Instead he focused on our need for God and honesty about our brokenness.
